Two Thousand and Twelve: What a Year.

This year started off so shitty for me. Literally on the very first day of this year, New Years day 2012, I found out that my boyfriend of four years was cheating on me. The first week of January proceeded to be shitty as we fought, I cried, begged for answers, and finally broke it off for good. For the next two months to come, I fought myself, trying to convince myself that his flaws weren’t my fault and that I deserved better. Among those months I learned a lot about myself, that I didn’t need him to be happy, that in fact, I didn’t NEED anyone to be happy. My own happiness depended solely on myself and my own decisions. January and February drug on, full of school work and waking up way too damn early. March 15, 2012, I turned 18. Finally legal, hallelujah. Not one spectacular thing comes of being legal except that you can buy sticks that will give you cancer and waste money on pieces of paper and a little bit of hope. I had a pretty kick ass birthday party though. I was happy with it, no drugs, no alcohol, just friends, a giraffe cake, and a good time. The week after my birthday I got my drivers licence! No car, just a licence haha. Lived up being 18 for a bit, and on April 20, completely out of the blue, I met a pretty amazing guy. I decided to go out with my best friend and one of her friends to a 4-20 party. Little did I know, it was a set up for me to meet his single friend. I went to this guys house completely convinced that I wanted to remain single for a while to completely get over my ex, but he just had to go and steal my heart while I wasn’t looking. Thanks a lot, Anthony. The next few weeks, I decided to hang out with him some more, and he came to visit me at school. May 12, he asked me to be his girlfriend. And so it was, love was born. To be closer to him, I moved in with my mom, who was within walking distance of his house. June 8, I graduated from highschool. Holy shit, the torture was over! It didn’t even seem real! I didn’t even cry. I just went home had a bbq with my new boyfriend and my new best friend, the guy who set me up with the new guy, and who happened to be my best friends new boyfriend by this time. Then I went to grad night, one of the most amazing nights of my life. Summmatiiimeee was amazing. I spent countless nights staying up all night at my boyfriends house, spending quality time with my best friends, new friends, going to the movies, six fags, sunsplash, out on dates, partying, living it up. Towards the end of summer, I got my first real job. I was working at The Pizza Company with my best friend, cashiering at local farmers markets and stuff. It was a blast! I met so many cool people. Dave the Popsicle guy, Ahmed the curry guy, Big Joe the bbq guy.. Not to mention i made really good money and rocked it in tips everyday thanks to a shiny smile and lots of energy drinks. Late August, my boyfriend moved in with me. The very next week I started college. Not as fun as I expected. I enrolled as a full time student, and continued to work part time. Its needless to say, i got addicted to caffeine. With my boyfriend moving in, I got my own cable and internet, my own netflix, practically bled money all the time. I tried to make everyone happy, but I just couldn’t keep up. Two months later, both my boyfriend and I moved out of my moms house. Well, kind of got kicked out of my moms house. My mom just couldn’t accept that i was really happy for once, seeing as she wants me to be as miserable as her. I helped my boyfriend move back into his moms house and I moved back into my dads house. Shorty after, my mom attempted to commit suicide for the hundredth time. I decided enough was enough and cut her out off my life completely. For halloween, I worked my last shift for The Pizza Company and went to my first RAVE! It was so much fun. I never thought i could be so damn tired. Dancing and partying for 8 hours. Me and my boyfriend dressed up as ninja turtles. Were so cute haha. November wasn’t very interesting. Thanksgiving was stupid. The food was delicious but i pretty much just sat by myself all day. Finally, I picked up my boyfriend from his psychotic mother and we went black friday shopping with my best friend and her mom. They bought a TV, he bought a laptop. The first week of December I scrambled to study for my finals. The second week, I took my finals, finished my very first semester of college, and successfully enrolled for my second. SIX WEEK WINTER BREAK. Gift from god. December 12, I celebrated my 7 month anniversary with my boyfriend. Today, December 19, I lay here two days before the predicted end of the world, a week before Christmas, and two before New Years. I don’t know what 2013 had to offer me, but I hope it’s just as exciting. Thank you 2012, you were a year to remember.
